Were you or do you know anyone who were dedicated Rocky horror Picture Show fans & possibly were goths too?
Was there a link between the emergence of goth due to punk and the Rocky Horror fandom?
Do you know anyone or would you call yourself a goth who is a fan of Rocky Horror?
Thanks
Well I have always been a regular franky fan (RHPS fan) but I am not a goth, I am a rivethead. (different music subculture.)
I know quite a few goths that were/are really into RHPS, but then again I know several that don’t really like it at all… there really is no real relationship between the two. There are just as many goths that are fans of the breakfast club or heathers. They were just movies/icons of the era, not really linked to the goth music subculture. Remember RHPS predates goth rock by a few years. (RHPS started as a play in 1973, a movie in 1975… while goth rock did not come out of post punk till the late 70’s) And the early goth rock bands really had little in common with the look or music of RHPS.
There would be more of a link between punk itself and RHPS… as like in “a clockwork orange”, RHPS broke down alot of the restrictions that society espouses (Though mind you, no where near as violently or anti-society as a whole as in a clockwork orange) which was one of the key parts of the punk movement.
